January 7, 2022
Salicylic acid has become a buzzword in skincare. What exactly is it? Why do we love it so much?
Salicylic acid is an organic compound and is classified as a beta hydroxy acid. It has direct activity as an anti-inflammatory agent and acts as a topical antibacterial agent due to its ability to promote cellular turnover and exfoliation. This BHA is an exfoliating ingredient that helps remove dead skin for a smoother & brighter complexion. While AHA are water soluble, BHAs are oil soluble, making it easier for them to get through pores congested with excess sebum, or oil. BHA can penetrate deep inside the pores helping treat acne, reducing swelling and redness.
